SDLP LEADER AND JOE BYRNE APPOINTS WEST TYRONE CONSTITUENCY REPRESENTATIVE...

SDLP Leader Dr. Alasdair McDonnell has recently appointed Daniel McCrossan as a Constituency representative to work alongside and assist Joe Byrne MLA for West Tyrone.

Dr McDonnell said: “During the leadership election I made a pledge that I would make the SDLP at all times electorally battle ready.

“I have begun that process internally and part of that is about identifying energetic people who can look to fill some of the gaps that have emerged, represent the SDLP locally, serve their communities and prepare to fight upcoming local government elections.

“Some are people who will work with our elected representatives in those areas where additional support is welcome and where we feel there are electoral opportunities.

“Others will represent the SDLP in areas which have perhaps been neglected and where we know that the SDLP vote can be encouraged to come out again.

They come from right across the North and are just the first tranche of representatives that I will be announcing over the next months.

“I am delighted to have Daniel McCrossan on board, who I am sure will do an excellent job in working with our SDLP team and MLA, Joe Byrne, to serve the people of Strabane and district.”

SDLP representative Daniel McCrossan added: “ I'm thrilled to have been asked to help rebuild a dynamic SDLP in Strabane and across West Tyrone. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the party in Strabane over the last year alongside Joe Byrne MLA and our new SDLP team. I would like to thank Joe for his unwavering support and encouragement and for providing me with such a wonderful opportunity. We have made significant ground in recent months and will continue rebuilding this party and will do our utmost to fully represent the people of Strabane to the best of our abilities.

Joe Byrne MLA said: Daniel McCrossan has worked extremely hard to get the SDLP back on its feet in Strabane and district, I am positive that this energetic and determined young man will continue to rebuild and drive our party forward. We also have a new energetic committee who we will work closely with to ensure we make this party electable again.
