SDLP ENCOURAGES SENIOR CITIZENS TO BENEFIT FROM NEW SERVICES!!

SDLP Sh Cllr Anne Marie Blee has encouraged senior citizens to avail of the new services being provided by the Strabane SDLP Advice Centre. The new service aims to work as a bridging service between elderly residents and the various schemes being offered over the winter.

Mrs Blee said: “The new service will provide senior citizens with extra support when it comes to enquiring about what schemes are being provided by the government over the winter and if they are entitled to benefit.
“Iniatives such as the Warmer Homes scheme aim to further insulate homes of elderly residents and help to reduce heating costs over the winter. A member of the SDLP team will simply take your details and will carry out the work necessary to access the scheme.”

SDLP Sh. Cllr and District Chairman Jim McIntyre added: “Many elderly residents are not aware of the schemes available to them over the winter or simply don’t know how to access them. The new service aims to take the stress out of the application process.

“The new service also provides help with the application for occupational therapy. The SDLP team can fill out the appropriate forms and can also arrange to attend the subsequent home visit if requested. To make use of this service simply call into our office at 5 Butcher Street or give us a call on 02871 882828
