STRABANE NEEDS YOU!!

STRABANE NEEDS YOU!!

Help fight against the continued discrimination shown towards Strabane by central Government, in the form of the decision to choose Ballykelly as the new location for the DARD headquarters. Despite Strabane being top of a list of areas that needed it most. The decision has starved Strabane of 800 fully paid positions and the best opportunity for Strabane to once again prosper since partition in 1921.  This smacks of bad decision making by Sinn Fein and the DUP to serve their own interests rather than serve the interests of the people of the Strabane community.

Strabane District Council has made it very clear that they are unwilling to stand against this decision and that the loss of 800 jobs is yet another discriminatory decision that the people of Strabane will just have to accept. 13 of Strabane’s District Councillors have refused to back a motion to question this decision in its entirety. 13 Councillors that are given a mandate to represent the best interests of their constituents, have chosen to ignore the need for jobs and prosperity in Strabane.

In Strabane at present, what hope is there for the futures of our young people. With no jobs our young people are once again being forced to travel abroad in search of work. With the arrival of 800 paid jobs it would have given Strabane something it has not had for a long time. Hope. Hope that in time our young people could see a future for themselves in  Strabane. Strabane would have been given a chance to right the wrongs of old and build a sustainable future for both young and old.

We say NO. We are asking for the people of Strabane to take a stand against this discrimination by signing our petition. In doing this we show that the people of Strabane have a voice and are willing to fight for their future and the future of our town. It is time that words are followed by actions. The people of Strabane will no longer accept these unjustified decisions or be treated as second class citizens by central government. Doing nothing is no longer an option.
